In a SQL configuration, one node is selected to be the User Activity primary node. In a Windows Internal Database (WID) configuration, this node is always the primary node. A node is also selected in the AD FS farm as the “User Activity” primary node. When ESL is enabled, a new table in the Artifact database, AdfsArtifactStore.AccountActivity, is created. This distinction lets you learn about user-familiar locations and still be protected by the extranet lockout feature that's available from AD FS 2012 R2.
